I have been getting asked a fair bit about my conversion/reversion story and so here goes...

For those of you who don't already know, I was Wiccan (a practitionner of magic and worshipper of the goddess; also known as a white witch) before I found Islam and reverted ...

It happened in a matter of stages really ...

For near thirty years I did not even know the words Muslim or Islam

Then I met an online friend who was muslim ... actually a few online muslim friends ... and I couldn't fathom why on earth anyone so intelligent would prostrate before Allah (SWT) I thought for sure they must be brainwashed to think like they did and I started out wanting to prove to them that they need to learn to think for themselves. Not only did I realize that they were not brainwashed but this started my journey to Islam!!!

My first muslim friend sent me a terrible link to give a non believer as a first introduction to Islam .. It seemed quite violent and was promoting Jihad and telling people if you were not Muslim you were nothing more than fuel for the fire. Then my friend told me that if I tried to learn about Islam that surely I would become a Muslim ... My first response of course as a free thinker was YEAH RIGHT NOT IN A MILLION YEARS ... but I told them because I wanted to better understand why they thought like they did and I would do some more research about Islam . For me it is a more respectable thing to do than to just immediately diss someone for their religion.

So I began my journey in doubt as I am sure many reverts do by reading about the Miracles in Islam and the Miracles in the Quran and somehow ended up on a forum that discusses how the moon had split in two. What I found amazing that the moon really does have a divide down the center of it Subhana'allah (proven by science). And without telescopes or the technology to take photos of the moon none the less the ability to land on the moon ... how could the people know 1400 years ago that it really was divided in two unless God himself revealed it?? It was an incredibly interesting forum and a knowledgeable muslim kept respectfully defending Islam and stuck to how Islam was a religion of peace and submission to one God. He had left some very good links (ie Islam Way) and some quranic sites so I followed the links! I sent away for my own english version of the Quran and started reading between internet and books that were sent to me with the Quran.

I started off trying to refute Islam only to get drawn in and it got to the point where I didn't wan't to stop learning alhamdulillah!!! I learned first of the miracles revealed by the Quran. For example the different stages of pregnancy first the revelation that the beginning stage is in the appearance of a clot ... then chewed substance ... then looking like a little human being .... How could they know this without the use of ultrasound?? ... And then the miracle of the Quran itself ... how did an illiterate man come up with all the verses in the Quran on his own, unless God sent him an angel to give him the words, to bring people the knowledge of the best way to live, and how is it that millions have the whole Quran memorized ... who other than God could make it possible ??... subhana'Allah!!

As I began to read I began to be more aware of things happening around me ... I started to be even more disgusted by the scantily dressed girls around me ... I lost my taste for pork and alcohol ... and I no longer enjoyed or wanted to perform magic ... I began to feel like that whatever I was was missing in my life was beginning to get fulfilled, and I started wanting to be a better person subhanah Allah, and most of all I discovered that I already had most of the beliefs and character traits of a muslim.

I believed already that family is of the utmost importance. I believed in helping other people less fortunate than myself. I believed women and men should be properly covered (I could not stand seeing nakedness on the young girls here) I believed in taking care of animals and the environment. I believed in doing good for the sake of good! I couldn't ever be brought to do harm on another human being or animal. I believed we are all accountable for our own actions. I believed that what was provided on the earth needed to be properly appreciated and that we needed to give our thanks for all that we have. I believed that all things are in perfect balance and that nothing happens without a reason. All these and other beliefs I discovered were paralell to Islam teachings. Alhamdulillah I was pretty near a Muslim all along and didn't even know it.

When I started to read the Quran (in English of Course) a peace began to fall over me ... a calmness that I didn't know before... It was like I had entered a new and different magical world. Then one day I was listening to a surat #9 in Arabic and I began to cry ... I had no idea what I was listening to but I went back to read the translation to see what it was that could possibly move me to tears and it was the surah of Repentance ... so I cried again when I knew what it was my heart was knowing before my brain did.

Though at this point I wasn't quite pushed far enough to take the plunge into the abyss of Islam, and say the shahada :) I still needed more proof!!

I had been regularly getting extremely terrifying dreams. The magic I had practiced over the years had been growing stronger; that seemed to attract some evil forces that wanted to steal it from me. I would clutch my pentacle for protection and the evil forces would be stayed for a short time, I would build protection walls and make spells for protection and that helped a little. But it seemed that the evil continued to come back and regularly tried to rape of my magic and my soul regardless of my efforts at protection (yes I know how crazy this sounds). It got to the point I was scared to sleep at night because I might not be able to fend off another attack and keep my sanity and stay strong against the evil, Astaghferullah.

Then one day I did a very simple thing. I took of my pentacle with intention of allowing or begging Allah (SWT) to keep me safe from harm. And in so doing I made a private contract with Allah. I was no longer Wiccan and I was demanding in return Allah's protection of my soul. Honestly I have not had another terrifying nightmare since, and I finally felt safe to sleep and safe to go about my day!! Alhamdulillah!!!!

Shortly after that ... I had a muslim friend extend their hand to me and tell me that the Islamic community would be delighted and honored to have me as a sister among them .... and I had a tingling sensation go all over my whole body. I was so supercharged that evening, and I knew that the time had come to make the official leap of faith ....

After that I took the first opportunity I had to make it to the local Masjid to say my shahada, while a friend of mine watched my children for me. That too was a journey for me ... I went under the pretext that I was going shopping. I showed up at the masjiid only to be told the imam wasn't there and that I would need to come back in half an hour to an hour ... so I left feeling mighty dejected and I came back at the appointed time to say the shahada. (it turned out to be a very long shopping trip because I really did need to do some shopping after. lol)

The imam wanted me to go home for the weekend think things over and return on monday ... I said nooooo it was so hard just to get there that day, I had decided I was going to be Muslim and so be it. Besides there is no guarantee that tomorrow or any other day is even going to come. Any way the imam took me in and I said the shahada on November 9 2007.

ALHAMDULILLAH ... I almost felt guilty for making him late for whatever function he needed to attend (which is why he wanted me to come back another day) but I just couldn't leave the masjiid as a non-muslim.

Any magic I was able to do in the past I no longer have an urge to do. Allah's magic is so powerful that anything I could do would be nothing and swallowed up by the greatness of Allah (SWT). No evil can touch me now, and I am more whole than I have ever been. Alhamdulillah!!!! Subhana'Allah!!!! ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!

alhamdulilah...what a beautiful story!
it's amazing how the simplest things can make a person change.
thank you for being an inspiration to me.
it's wonderful to be reminded that there are people out there that are constantly reverting to islam contrary to all the negative publicity out there...

Masha Allah is right! I'm so moved when I hear stories of people reverting, because I can't help but wonder if I were born non-muslim, would I have the courage to find and accept islam? And only Allah SWT knows that for sure. So know that you are blessed, for Allah surely loves you to bring you to His religion!

Masha'Alalh I am glad you named your blog what you did.
For a few years in teens I and my Wiccan Friend dabbled in magic here and there and did some basic spells and such. But I always wanted to know more and learn morea nd DO more. The answers were beyond this small magic. I wanted BIG magic. I found in Islam all what I needed SubhanAllah.
But my friend she's still worshipping the "Goddess" and doing her thing. But i see inside her the same soul that belongs in Islam subhanAllah. She even wore Hijab one day with me. She looked lovely in it too. I wish with all my heart that she would listent o my guidance about Islam. She is alot liek you how you said so many things baout you are already Muslim.
If you ahve the time and energy would you be willing to chat with her? I could introduce your blog to her or you can first e-mail her. Let me know. Masha'Allah I loved your conversion story.
But I'm mad at that Imam. When someone wants to become Muslim you're not even supposed to wait one minute for them to say Shahada much less days. Alhamdulillah you pushed him. Helped your soul and his. ALLAHU AKBAR! I wish your journey goes smoothly and that you find real peace in Islam. Masha'Allah because of you already more have joined!!! ALLAHU AKBAR!

Please no matter what bad you see some Muslims doing who are not rightly guided please don't think they are what real Islam is. Real is Islam is what YOU are dear sister. SOmeone who dabbled in Magic and was swayed by Shaytan and Jinns how now come to be prayed over by Angels and beloved to Allah (swt). MASHA'ALLAH.

salam, ma sha Allah, you state that by putting your trust in Allah, you were able to put off evil from over taking you once and for all. It seemed automatic.
Does anything ever attempt to come your way after islam? If so what would you do?

I left Islam for Wicca.

1. Embroloolgy was well known at the time. Hippocrates, Galen, and Aristotle wrote about it centuries before. Muhammad's companion was a physician who went to a school that taught Galen. A chunk of the Middle East was the Byzantine Empire which spoke Greek. Muhammad as a merchant would have met merchants traveling from the Greek/Byzantine , Persian, Indian and Jewish cultures that all knew about this- and women miscarry so you can see fetuses & embryos so a no brainerer how he found out.

2. Sweet and Salty water do mix. It's called brackish water. When they are mixing- at first its like coffee and milk look separate before mixed. Also, if you are on a boat casting nets and the boat goes one way and the net goes another- you can guess its a rip tide. Ancient travellers knew this- as a merchant, Muhammad would have talked to them at bazaars. Scientist William Hay has a video explaining this
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bygb30gAqOs

3. The moon splitting is a hoax. It's just as loony as Christian creationists claiming science proves Genesis. NASA scientists have stated that no evidence exists that the Moon was split into two or more parts any time in the past. NASA scientist Brad Bailey commented, "My recommendation is to not believe everything you read on the internet. Peer-reviewed papers are the only scientifically valid sources of information out there. No current scientific evidence reports that the Moon was split into two (or more) parts and then reassembled at any point in the past."

Scientifically, if Muslims didn't use outside science, they wouldn't advance. Same during their Golden Age. Islam hasn't had an invention in over 700 years and has the least Nobel prizes.

I'm also sorry you are appalled by scantily clad people. Our skin was designed to be in the sun, it's how we get vitamin D. And why many Muslims get rickets.

We are made and born naked, do babies promote sin by being naked? covering doesn't stop men from lusting- do you think men stopped fantasizing about nuns? In Christianity, the saying is "a habit does not make a monk". Clothes do not make people, its inside that counts. Ancient people walked around in lion cloths and it didn't make them uncontrolled rapists or immoral.so don't believe that teaching people clothes makes people modest or causes sin. In Sweden Muslim immigrants have turned it into the rape capitol of Europe because they are taught unscarved women are whores asking for it. In fact in many cases a woman is worth less than her veil because Muslims kill, disfigure, assault or imprison women who dont wear them. Wicca doesn't teach clothes =character or value.

A person in Wicca has dignity dressed or undressed.

I don't believe that I am half a man or deserve less rights or less inheritance.

Muhammad didn't give women more rights. did cleopatra, helen of troy, boudicca, etc seem opressed to you? Maybe in a few cases but many ancient and modern civilizations gave and still give women way more rights than Islam. In fact according to the United Nations, Muslim women have the fewest rights, and Muslim countries have the worst political freedom, worse human rights and worse freedom of speech.

I have no clue where you came up with the idea that men are expendable in Wicca. Men and women are equal. Masculine and feminine divine energy was required to form life.

In Islam Muhammad kills two Jewish women's families then takes them as wives? Hello- that's rape of a POW hostage+ Stockholm syndrome. To dress it up as compassion is twisted. He's also over 50 having sex with 9 year-old. That is the moral compass? And to add insult to injury- Muhammad beat Aisha, there is a sura to hit wives. If you cant come up with four honorable Muslim male witnesses to prove rape it didnt happen according to sharia.

Islam is oppressing women just like an abuser does - telling them its cause he cares, that he doesn't want her going out dressed like that so men won't look at her sexually and pretending to put women on a pedestal while holding them down.

This isn't something I made up, this is what I learned from Muslim female activists, like Ghada Jamshir , fighting for rights.

I left Islam for Wicca(cont)

Islam is closest to ancient worship of Baal. It's ridiculous to think that the God of the Jews would command to kill them all so Muslims can get paradise at end times. Even Joel 3 in the Bible says Jesus would gather all the people and damned to hell all who stood against Israel. Jesus was a Jew fighting Roman occupation of Israel who was crucified according to Roman practice. Jews would have stoned him. They didnt want Romans attacking them so they turned him in.

Was The Bible corrupted? yes- the koran is the corruption. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you are going to write a sequel you have to go through and weave your story into the previous one. Muhammad was not "prophesied" by the Bible any more than Joseph Smith, Bahallulahl or David Koresh, etc were. Each one just explained away their lack of fitting the narrative by calling it a corruption. If you read the Bible it promises the Jews and Christians Israel, tells people not to bow before rocks, tells people if they deny the divinity of Jesus they will not be accepted by God, says Satan will come down as an angel of light to give a man a false message of peace to mislead people and when Jesus comes back he rips the crescent off the camel. The whore of Babylon produces the daughter of Babylon -islam is an offshoot/daughter of ancient Babylonian Baal worship. Convenient to leave that out. (Walid Shoebat, an exMuslim, has a series on prophecy. )
Not to mention Uthman corrupted the Koran- no different than Constantine at the council of Nicea. Uthman pick and chose. The oldest Koran found was found in Yemen -it differed from Uthmans and was not in Arabic, it was in SyroAramaic.

There is no compulsion in Wicca. Islam claims that but that verse was abrogated with the verse of the sword (doctrine of abrogation) and you have killing apostates, and oppression or killing of nonbelievers.

In Wicca- a not only is a woman's testimony is equivalent to a man's in court. In sharia women are half and nonMuslims are not allowed to testify against a Muslim if he committed a crime against him. Non-Muslims have to pay higher taxes (jizya) ad have fewer rights (dhimmitude/dhimmi). The Syrian rebels reinstalled this cherished practice on Christians. and a Kuwaiti activist is on YouTube calling to follow Islamic law and make nonMuslims slaves.

Brush off the Reliance of the Traveler, if you think I'm joking. or read "the devil we don't know"by Nonie Darwish

I was engaged to a Muslim, he was nice but I didn't like Islam. Six million Muslims a year are leaving Islam, only in the West where they are ignorant of living with sharia is it growing. Having lived overseas and seeing jihad committed on over 5,000 Buddhists- I renounced islam.

I hope those of you who embrace Islam will leave the West and move to the Middle East and stay there so that nonMuslims can live alone in peace in the West and not get beheaded or bombed in jihad like Muslims are starting in America and Europe.

Me:There was no Israel before 1947
USA,west and its allies helped Israel to kill thousands of innocent Muslims of Palestine and ethnically cleansed over 700,000 muslims that (now) living like 3rd rated civilians in different countries all around the world.
To legitimize stolen land from Palestine and Golan heights of Syria, Israeli thugs and their political leaders in USA helped form ISIS in Syria resulting millions of death and refugees flocking to West, USA and European countries.
Your cunning and criminal leaders have destroyed a rich and prosperous Iraq by killing over a million innocent people including angelic children to find weapons of mass destruction which never found till today.

REMEMBER :If there was no interference in Muslim countries by western countries and illegal land occupation of Muslim land by western interests,Muslims would have lived peacefully and prosperously as they have abundant oil stocks given by nature.

There is no question of migrating as refugees or leaving your country if you would have not interfered with their internal matters.
